Did Hancock Save the Day?

***Psuedo-Spoiler Warning***

So I saw Hancock today and I will say, I was kinda impressed. We all knew it was only a matter of time before the Fresh Prince donned a superhero uniform and I’m kinda glad it was an original creation and not a Marvel dude. However, I was kind of expecting the movie to delve much deeper in what it means to be human, to feel, to love, to die; but tha’s where I messed up. I usually try (really hard) to go into a movie without any expectations but I couldn’t help myself with this one.

Although the movie was kinda predictable to me, it didn’t fall too hard into the trappings of blatantly and overused movie cliches. And although it kinda felt like Mr. and Mrs. Smith at times, it still maintained a respectable and non-slapstick charm to it. The movie took a risky twist and barely got away w/ it. Still though, it was worth my money. Especially on a fourth of July where I had to work, it was a welcomed break.

As for Mr. Smith selling out to Scientology….fuck it. I try not to think of that, at least not in this post. That’s a topic for a whole ‘nother day. Yaknomesayin’?
